In 1991 we found a bayfront property with cottages dating from the 1940s with the intent of transforming it into a waterfront inn. The restoration project was natural for us since David was in construction and Gail was an interior designer. The result is a charming bayfront inn with Key West ambiance. The name of the resort comes from the turtle nesting area on the beach across the street, but it could have easily been named for the dolphins, manatees, blue herons, and pelicans you have a good chance of seeing from the dock.
The resort has two studios, two one-bedroom cottages, and six two-bedroom cottages with full kitchens. Gail decided on a theme for each and used her decorating skills to fit the decor to their names, which range from Southwest and Bahama Breeze to Country Cottage and Victorian. Each one has a private patio with a hot tub, and all but one has a bay view.

Activities: Turtle Beach is a 5 minute walk or a 1 minute drive, with beautiful gulf sunsets. Also a few minutes south, via one of our canoes or kayaks, you will find sand dunes, sea grass and the most beautiful beach with few people if any. Are we still in Florida or are we in the "Caribbean"? Yes, Florida, an island between Siesta Key and Casey Key on a strip of land that can only be reached by a boat or canoe. You might be lucky enough to swim with the dolphins, the birds, the sunshine, the manatees, and sometimes even sea turtles, await you.
Turtle Beach Resort was a fishing camp 40 years ago: Snook, Red Fish, Sea Trout, SheepsHead, even small Tarpon, are caught on our private docks. A lounge chair and drink in hand, a live shrimp and a fishing rod on your private dock, now that's the way to fish!
You're not the only one who needs a vacation and at Turtle Beach Resort, we offer accomodations that pets are welcomed in. At our dog friendly resort your "best friend" can enjoy paradise with you. As the tide goes out, new islands appear a couple of hundred feet away from our docks. These are great places for "Rover" to play and chase birds. We offer a real island vacation for your four legged "kids" to romp and play. The resort is also located just north of a dog friendly beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
